    Why You'll love this recipe

    • So easy to make! It only takes a few minutes to put together, and only used avocados, lime, cilantro and salt and pepper.
    • Homemade guacamole is delicious, crowd-pleasing and customizable to your taste. Adjust the level of spice, mash it to your preferred consistency. Add in a spoon of restaurant-style salsa or spicy jalapeño salsa to change it up.
    • Not only can it simply be used as a dip for a party with chips, it's a great side to nachos, my breakfast burrito bowls, taco salads or a topping for tacos.

    Key Ingredients and variations

    • Avocados: choose ripe avocados for the best result. If you squeeze it gently, it'll have a little give. If it's too mushy it could be brown inside, and if it's too hard or bright green, it's not ripe yet and could be bitter.
    • Lime: juiced. I highly recommend using fresh lime, it just tastes better than bottled lime for this recipe. Add more or less to taste.
    • Salt & Pepper: to highlight all the flavors. You can also add a little garlic and onion powder if you wish, or even a little spoon of taco seasoning.
    • Fresh Cilantro: chopped very finely.

    Tips

    • Use ripe avocados. Not too ripe that they're mushy, but ripe enough that they mash easily.
    • Mash to your preference. Use a fork for a chunkier guacamole, or blend it for a smooth one.
    • Don't be scared to use salt! It deepens the guac.
    • Serve it fresh! Guacamole doesn't stay green for very long, so the fresher the better.
    • Use fresh lime! Not only does it add a delicious taste, it helps the avocado stay green longer.

    frequently asked questions

Do I need to chill the guacamole?

Technically no, but guacamole taste better cold! My tip is to keep all the ingredients we use to make it in the fridge so it's already cold when you mash it.

How can I keep the guacamole from turning brown?

There's a few tricks that can help like limiting air exposure by keeping it covered, using lime generously, pressing plastic wrap directly on the mashed avocado, or adding a pit in the middle of it.
