    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • It's a very easy tasty side dish! Air fryer potatoes are a staple in my home and I love to switch it up a bit. Whether you want simple air fryer diced potatoes, garlic parmesan potatoes, or homemade steak fries, adding the onions changes the flavor making them deliciously more savory. Ready in less than 30 minutes.
    • It's a healthier version of fried potatoes using a lot less oil. Air frying them gives them nice texture. Potatoes are a great carbohydrates then keeps you satiated.
    • They're easy to customize, you can use different spices, different kind of potatoes and onions, fresh herbs. Make them your own! They would be a great addition to this breakfast burrito bowls.

    Key Ingredients And Variations

    • Potatoes: some varieties of potatoes will crisp up more than other, like russet or baby potatoes. I peel my potatoes, but if you enjoy the skin, it totally works, just make sure to scrub them well before chopping. I used yellow potatoes in these photos, they don't crisp up as much but they're so good and buttery.
    • Yellow onions: sliced not too tiny cause if too small, the pieces may fall thru the holes of your air fryer basket. Substitute for white or sweet onions if you prefer.
    • Oil: while you don't need a ton of oil, you need a little bit to get crispy edges. Avocado or olive oil are my go-to, but you can use any oil you like. Use some spray cooking oil too to start with and halfway into cooking if needed.
    • Seasoning: garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. But you can use any spices, or spice mix that you enjoy!

    Tips

    • Try to chop the potatoes uniformly so they all cook evenly.
    • Don't add the onions at the same time as the potatoes. The potatoes need a little more time to cook.
    • Shake the air fryer basket multiple times, and spray with more cooking oil if needed.
    • These air fryer potatoes and onions are best eaten right after cooking. They'll lose the crispy edges if they sit.
    • Leftovers can be stored refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan or in the air fryer.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Notes

    • Don't cut the onions too small or they might fall in the cracks of your air fryer tray.
    • If you double the recipe, depending on the size of your air fryer, , I would recommend cooking the potatoes and onions in batches. If you overcrowd the air fryer, the potatoes won't get crispy edges.
    • Cooking time will vary by a few minutes depending on your air fryer as each model is unique, as well as the size of the potato cubes.
